Did you know that there are things that can actually “turn off” a Portland Home Buyer and cause them to want to avoid your home?
If you’re planning on listing your home here are 3 turn offs you will want to avoid if you want to quickly sell your home during 2015.
1 – Overpricing Your Home
These days just about every home buyer has internet access in the palm of their hand, thanks to their smart phones, and they will know in minutes if your home is overpriced or not after looking up your property on websites like Zillow and comparing it to other properties for sale in the area.
2 – Bad Curb Appeal
Does your garden have pink flamingos, gnomes or dozens of other items from your travels? Is your lawn overgrown or have the shrubs around your house not been pruned in quite some time? Is the paint peeling and fading from the trim or front door? If so, take them time to clean up your yard, plant some simple and colorful plants in the garden beds and remove any distracting “yard art”. Also touch up the paint on the front of the house and repaint the front door if needed. Power washing the sidewalks and driveway really help too. Make sure your home looks like one buyers want to go inside, not just drive past.
3 – Dirty Home
You may have staged your home for sale, but did you thoroughly clean it?
Dirty homes will cause any buyer to ask “what else is WRONG with this home?” even though it may be in perfect condition while dirty. Not only should you make sure the floors are clean and the kitchen and bathrooms are scrubbed from floor to ceiling, also take the time to take down the cobwebs, spruce up the baseboards, and clean the windows. It will make an impression on the buyer.
