Condominium VS. Townhome – Which Portland Oregon Home Is Better?

By
Katie Bain

Are you
thinking about buying a condo or a townhome and don’t know which Portland Oregon Home is the better
option for you?

In this
article we will break down the key differences between condos and townhomes so
you can make the right decision on which home is right for you.

Condominium VS. Townhome

A condominium is part of a bigger
multi-family complex.

When
you live in a condo you will share walls with other tenants.  The complex may also have common areas such as
laundry, swimming pool, fitness center and hallways.

If you
own a condo you will own the interior of the condo but not any of the exterior,
landscaping or common areas.

What’s
great about condos is that the condo association is responsible for maintenance
of the common areas, exterior of the building and this will save the owner of
the condo both time and money.

A townhome is a row of identical homes,
which share walls.

As the
owner of a townhome you will own the land that the condo sits on plus you will
be responsible for paying for maintenance to the interiors, deck and yard.

Townhomes
are often larger than condos and may offer advantages such as an attached
garage, private yard, and less common walls with neighbors.
