3 Hidden Things Which Can Kill Your Portland Oregon Home Price

By Katie Bain

PORTLAND, Ore. – You’re getting excited about
listing your Portland Oregon Home
for sale and have been taking the right steps to prepare it for listing
including de-cluttering and staging the home, but did you know that there are 3
hidden things which can KILL the sale of your home?

In this post I will cover what those 3 hidden
things are and what can be done to fix them.

#1
– Leaded Paint

If your Portland
Oregon home
was built before 1978 it may contain leaded paint.

Thanks to recent data from the Centers for
Disease Control we know that close to 24 million homes across the United States
have some leaded paint.

Although your home may have been painted
since you last lived there, it’s best to have it professionally inspected and
if leaded paint is found you should have those areas of your home remediated.  It could be as simple having it primed and
repainted with high quality latex paint but check with a licensed professional
that specializes in lead based paint.

#2
– Asbestos

If your home was built in the 1970’s it may
contain some asbestos products, often found in insulation, and it should be
replaced.  You will have to disclose that
information to buyers when they purchase your home and the asbestos in your
home could affect its price and delay the sale.

#3
– Mold

Mold is not uncommon in Portland with the
wetter climate.  If your home has mold that
has not been properly removed, buyers wonder about other potential problems
with your home, even if you are willing to have it removed.  If you have the mold professionally removed prior
to listing your home, this could help the sale of your home.
