The Top 5 Ways a Real Estate Agent Actually Makes You MORE Money

By Katie Bain

Did you know that you will actually make more money
when you work with a Real Estate agent?

In this post I will share with you five ways an
agent will make you more money so you will know the advantages of working with
a Realtor if you plan on selling your Portland Oregon home.

Reason #1 – Marketing

When you work with a Realtor ® you will make more
money thanks to their marketing experience.
They will be displaying your home to a wider audience both online as
well as through their network of buyers and other agents.  They also will customize a marketing plan
specific to your property and the type of buyers it is most likely to attract.

Reason #2 – Negotiation

Your agent will be your advocate every step of the
way when you are selling your home by using their negotiation skills to get you
the highest price for your home.  Real
estate agents have expertise in navigating the sales contract and understanding
the best ways to capture the highest price.

Reason #3 – Price

Working with an agent means that your home will be
priced at its correct market value and there will not be any guessing game when
it comes to finding out what your home is really worth.  Pricing your home correctly is very important
because if it is priced too high it will sit on the market a long time and
buyers often make low offers because they assume the seller is desperate to
sell.  This usually results in a lower
sales price than if the home had been priced appropriately in the
beginning.  Pricing your home too low
results in a lower price than it could have sold for if listed with an agent
(even after commissions), which means you miss out on potential income.

Reason #4 – Staging

Realtors are skilled at staging a home to sell either
with your current furniture or by hiring a staging company.  Staged homes are statically shown to sell
quicker and for a higher sales price compared to homes that are poorly staged
or sitting empty when buyers arrive.

Reason #5 – Repairs

If you are planning on selling your home, a Realtor
® will be able to recommend the best repairs which you should make to your home
to maximize the value of your home.  They
can also recommend updates that could increase the value of your home by more
than the cost of the updates in order to make you more money in the sale.
