Should You Buy a Portland Oregon Home “As-Is” Without having A home Inspection?

By Katie
Bain

If you
are thinking about buying a Portland Oregon Home as-is, should you have a home
inspection?

The
answer is yes, you should still get the home inspected.  There could be major and costly issues that
affect the overall integrity of the home that you should know about prior to
your purchase.  It is also always a good
idea to know what repairs or maintenance issues you have in store for you
regardless if the home looks like it’s been well-maintained or not.

Helps with Budgeting

Buying a
home is a wonderful thing but it’s also a smart idea to get a home inspection before
you agree to purchase it because, the home inspection will offer you a clear
picture of what you can expect to spend on any maintenance or repairs.

A Smart Move for Every Buyer

In some
cases the seller, or bank (if it’s a foreclosure), may be open to performing
the necessary repairs on the home if the buyer threatens to terminate the
contract especially once the repairs were found to be too expensive for them to
complete on their own, so it always pays to have a home inspection done.

How to Find a Home Inspector

When you
work with a Portland Oregon Realtor your agent should be able to refer you to
the right home inspector which you can use to have the home you want to
purchase thoroughly inspected before you agree to purchase.

Where Do Home Inspectors
Look?

A
licensed home inspector will generally start at the foundation of the home and
work their way up to the roof as they inspect the: plumbing, electrical,
exterior, heating, air conditioning, interior, appliances, attic space and
roof.
