Easy Living Room Arrangements for the TV and (Non-TV)

By Katie Bain

PORTLAND, Ore – Are you searching for ways to arrange your living room so it has plenty of “flow”? This is especially important if you are planning on selling your home since a living room which is poorly arranged will make a buyer feel like the space is smaller than it really is.

In today’s post, I will share with you two simple ways you can arrange your living room so that it has plenty of flow, and these arrangements will work well if you have a TV in your living room or no television at all.

Room with TV

If your living room has a TV, like most households in Portland, you should make the TV your focal point in the room.

Depending on the size of your television you should move your furniture at least 120 inches or more away from the TV so viewers can comfortably watch TV from any seat in the living room.

Tip – Sometimes your focal point might be a fireplace which you have in your living room, if this is the case with your home you should consider having the TV mounted above the fireplace so that you can still enjoy the fireplace without having to miss watching your favorite shows.

Room without TV

No TV? No problem!

For a living room which doesn’t have a television you should consider placing furniture closer together, grouped around a coffee table, because this will create a more intimate conversation space.

Tip – Don’ be afraid to use a mixture of colors and textures in a living room without a TV.

You should also consider using longer drapes to emphasize the height of the ceiling in the living room as well.
