As a Portland Homeowner your goal when selling your home is to sell it for the most money.
Sadly, most homeowners won’t be able to get top dollar for their homes because they miss some simple but key areas of their homes which will almost always need a simple repair.
In today’s post, I will provide you with those 4 of those items so you know where you should be investing time and money in your home before listing it for sale.
Tip 1 – Repair Those Badly Patched Walls
Over the years we all end up poking holes in the walls of our homes, and sometimes those holes may be larger than we originally anticipated.
If your walls have badly patched holes you should take the time to repair them by using real drywall instead of using spackle. Often times it is also worth considering hiring a professional.
Tip 2 – Adjust Your Cabinet Doors
Take the time to go through your kitchen and bathrooms to adjust those cabinet doors and make sure they aren’t crooked and that they close normally. This easy fix will help to improve the look and overall value of your home.
Tip 3 – Unstick All Stuck Windows
Often times, especially in older homes, the window trim has been repainted and may have been painted shut. Make sure that all the windows in your home open and if any are stuck or painted shut, repair them so that they open easily.
Tip 4 – Oil Squeaky Hinges
Do the cabinets or doors in your home squeak when you open them? If so, oil their hinges before buyers arrive to view your home. Squeaky hinges on doors and cabinets can be a distraction and can make a home feel old or unkept.
